Honouring mind, body, and spirit on your healing path

I acknowledge that the land where I live, move, and offer psychotherapy—commonly known as Toronto—is the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Haudenosaunee, and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples. I honour these Nations, and all recorded and unrecorded Nations who have cared for, and continue to care for, this land. I hold deep gratitude for the opportunity to practice and be in connection here.
JUSTINE’S Path
Years ago, during a health consultation, I was asked a trauma-related question that led me to reflect on the connection of the mind and body. I didn’t have the words for it then—it completely confounded me. Yet, it stayed with me.
As soon as I returned home, I opened my laptop and began researching trauma and the body. That search led me—somewhat serendipitously—back to a page I’d visited years before: the website of a Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) program. At the time, someone had suggested that I may be interested in this body-based therapeutic modality. It didn’t fully land at the time, but looking back, it feels as though the idea sat quietly in the back of my mind, waiting patiently for me to return to it. Now, I was having a big “aha” moment.
